We are excited to share our speakers for the 2025 TAHSN Communicators Education Day!

Crisis Communications Workshop
Patricia Favre and Stefan Baranski from Navigator Ltd. will lead a workshop on crisis communications, covering:

  • The evolving nature of crises in today’s fast-paced, digital world
  • Three types of crises and their defining characteristics
  • The phases of effective response: preparation, action, and recovery
  • Common pitfalls and how to avoid them

Panel Discussion
Our expert panel will explore ‘The Impact of Inclusive Communication: Understanding the Needs of Marginalized Audiences.’ Panelists include:

  • Matisse Hamel-Nelis – Communications and digital accessibility consultant, PR professor at Durham College, and volunteer with organizations like the International Association of Business Communicators (IABC). Matisse has worked with the CNIB Foundation and AbleDocs to ensure PR campaigns are inclusive and equitable.
  • Madelyn Chung – Writer, speaker, registered psychotherapist, and advocate for the Asian North American community. Former editor at StyleList.ca and HuffPost Canada, and digital editor at FASHION. Madelyn has contributed to publications such as Chatelaine, FLARE, and Yahoo! Style.
  • Prasanna Ranganathan – DEIB (Diversity, Equity, Inclusion & Belonging) advisor and consultant, speaker, and writer with over 16 years of experience in DEIB and accessibility. Prasanna has led initiatives in various industries, including serving as head of diversity and belonging at Shopify.
  • Moderator: Carly Weeks – Vice President of Communications, Public Affairs, and Stakeholder Relations at St. Joseph’s Healthcare Hamilton, and former health reporter at The Globe and Mail.
